Are you wondering what you can do to correct dental problems due to missing teeth? One way to get a healthier and more attractive smile is by visiting your cosmetic dentist for dental implants. Here are just a few of the benefits of dental implants:
Better-Looking Smile
With dental implants, your cosmetic dentist can fix many problems that affect the appearance of your teeth. Whether you have lost teeth due to decay, advanced gum disease, injury, or congenital deformity, you'll have a more attractive smile when the resulting gaps are filled with dental implants.
Increased Confidence
When your cosmetic dentist installs dental implants, you'll feel better about smiling and showing your teeth. You will also be able to speak and chew with the same functionality that natural teeth offer, allowing you to avoid the self-conscious clicking caused by many types of dentures and appliances.
Prevention of Bone Loss
Missing tooth roots can result in the degeneration of the bone below. As dental implants serve as prosthetic roots, they can help stop this bone loss, keeping your mouth healthy and preserving your natural facial structure.
Easy Care and Maintenance
Unlike dentures or bridges, dental implants don't require any special cleaning procedure—you can simply brush and floss them in the same way that you would care for your natural teeth. There are no special denture cleaners required, and you can eat most foods without fear of damaging the implants.

As this video explains, there are several things you can do to help get your children off on the right food as they learn to brush. Charts, games, and new supplies are a few good motivators to try. Remember to ask your family dentist for help on teaching your kids the importance of good brushing.

Periodontal disease is one of the leading causes of cavities and tooth loss in the United States among children and adults, and it can largely be attributed to inadequate professional and home dental care. To keep your teeth and gums healthy, incorporate these tips:
- Undergo Regular Professional Teeth Cleanings
Your chances of getting a cavity increase the longer you put off going to the dentist. Regular teeth cleanings can help prevent bacteria from building up between your teeth and below your gums. When plague collects in your gums, periodontal disease may develop, leaving you at risk for oral infections and tooth loss. To reduce your chances of gum disease, visit your dentist at least two time a year or more if necessary. If you notice red, inflamed gums or bleeding after you brush or floss, call your dentist right away.
- Brush and Floss Properly
When brushing, use a soft-bristled brush that is small enough to reach behind your upper and lower molars. Place the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle and press against where the teeth meet the gums. Move your hand back and forth and in circular motions. Be sure to brush all sides of the teeth as well as the tongue and inside check panels. Vigorously brush the tops of the molars to remove any food particles that might be stuck in the crevices. Then, floss your teeth by gliding the floss in between two teeth and gently scraping the sides of each tooth. Be sure to dip the floss below the surface of the gum line on both sides of each tooth to reach any hidden food particles.
- Avoid Acidic Foods
Sugary and starchy foods can form acids that can break down the enamel on your teeth, leading to cavities. Try to avoid eating these foods or drink plenty of water to dilute the acid as much as possible or brush right away.
